Black Tuna marijuana strain is actually a hybrid – a genetic cross between Lamb’s Bread (sativa) and Herijuana, a relatively exotic indica hybrid. 5 Star Organics is credited as initially spawning the strain out in British Columbia, and its THC content ranges from 18-29%. Black Tuna flowers will be compact, trichome-covered and have a strong smell. Black Tuna doesn’t smell quite like fish, however; the strain’s name comes from the Black Tuna Gang that was famous for smuggling Colombian marijuana into the United States in the 1970s.

Given its potency and high THC, this strain may be too much for novice or moderate consumers. The medical marijuana community online has described this strain to be narcotic, which is not recommended for beginner users. It generally starts off easy going and soon after, it will hit users hard. Users will have trouble staying steady and keeping their eyes wide opened in just a few minutes. Since this weed is known for being narcotic, it is especially beneficial for patients suffering from pain such as chronic pain, inflammation and pain due to injury. It has been reported that in some cases, a user’s appetite can be increased considerably. As a result, this strain is known as a treatment to increase appetite for patients suffering from anorexia. Black Tuna has the ability to manage mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, stress, bipolar and some mild cases of PTSD too.
